About the Event
Trip Organiser - Andy Frost
Woodhill Forest is home to Auckland's only dedicated offroad adventure park, and this weekend (Saturday and Sunday) we get four free entries for those being part of the 'Safety Patrol' team.
Auckland Offroad Adventure Park
Safety Patrol Team
To be part of the safety patrol team you will need to have a UHF radio (fixed or handheld), recovery gear (eg: straps, shackles etc), and a winch is also very useful for recoveries. You will need to be willing to move to various parts of the forest to help visitors who may get stuck, lost or have some sort of vehicle issue.
You may also need to stay later than the closing time of 4pm (as is often the case) to ensure all day visitors have left the forest before the Adventure Park closes for the day. This can involve assisting people with vehicle issues out of the forest gates.
It is okay if more than four trucks want to be part of the recovery group for a particular day, as we just divide the remaining cost of entry among the team.
So that will mean for those in the safety team;
4 , we get in free
5 we split the 5th cost ($60) so $12 a piece
6 we split $120 so $20
and so on (please bring some cash)
Others
People might like to attend and not be part of the safety patrol team, and come along for a fun day out and get to explore the forest as a group, and also learn from the recoveries you get to experience at first hard (this is how most of us learn the best practices and do's and don'ts).
Entry fee is $60 per vehicle.
NB: Please register for the day you want to attend Saturday or Sunday using the correct event form, and specify whether you want to be part of the safety team.
COVID 19 Protection Framework - The committee has recently discussed the government requirements under the current COVID-19 Protection Framework (traffic light system) to ensure we are in compliance, and also discussed the protection of our fellow club members from COVID-19. The nature of club four wheel driving means that there is a likelihood that assistance may need to be provided, often in close proximity, including inside vehicles in emergency situations. There are also often confined spaces at campsites and other locations. For this reason, it will be a requirement for all trip participants to have a valid Vaccine Pass to participate in any club events, whilst Auckland is under Red or Orange settings.
Our environment is continuing to evolve with the emergence of Omicron in our community, and for that reason we will reassess our position once the government moves the Auckland region to a Green setting.
