Updated: Aug 13
Date –Sunday 1st August 2021
Location – Woodhill Forest
Start Time - 9am
Travelling time to track from clubrooms – 45 minutes
33 Vehicles 9 Visitor vehicles
Weather – Warm and dry
Track Grade - The Shiny group led by myself stayed on the easier tracks, slowly getting tougher as the day progressed. The tough truck groups were stuck in the muck two minutes after leaving the car park!
Track Condition – Good. The odd wash out had to be negotiated due to the heavy rain earlier in the week. It’s always good to have a spade handy at Woodhill. Hard Luck – This has to go to Calvin Tyler whose Mazda tow car broke its alternator pulley 3km from the park. Also had three vehicles lose drive in the front end.
Best thing – The relaxed feeling of the day with only the Auckland 4WD Club being there.
Funniest thing – Watching Jarrod’s kids pouring water from their gumboots, out of the Safari’s windows after they persuaded dad to try and get through the deepest water hole.
Nice surprise – How many members registered for the trip making this a huge event for the club.
Conclusion – Great trip, great group, great time.
Let’s do it again soon.
Cheers Paul Brinkman
